  1. Does the Emerald Night really go that fast with the rechargeable battery
box? Or did you just sped up the footage to make it go faster?

  2. At a $450 Amazon price tag, this is a set that will be at the top of my
wish list for the foreseeable future. Its not a ‘can’t afford’ thing, but I
do have other habits to support, like my RCs, ATV…. food, electricity….

    Thanks for sharing!!!!

  3. If only this thing did not cost so much… Should have bought it when it
    was new.

  4. Why is it that a lot of the minifigs that have gray beards remind me so
    much of Earnest Hemmingway?

  5. Shame never got it. This is a really good set from the good old days. This
set + City Tracks + City Train stations = endless fun.

  6. Good review!! I love this set. My only problem with it was, I had to
replace one of the tech. pins underneath. The one that came with it was too
short and the gears would get mess up. Other then that problem it is my
    favorite train.

  7. The overall look is good, but not having something resembling coals on the
top of the small cart really ruins it. And another thing I noticed is that
the front wheels look ridiculous when the train is taking a bend. That also
ruins the whole aspect for me. But I’m sure that you could improve on all
of this, Jang and make a much nicer Emerald Express ;)

  8. I got this set when I was younger… I saved up my allowance for months to
get it, I had so much fun building it, and I cherished it, always being
super careful with it, but then one of my fiends came over to play and he
broke it… I no longer have the passenger car, but the engine is about 80%
complete, missing most cosmetic pieces, but the support structure, and the
green slopes are all still there… I should go and get together all the
pieces I need to return it to it’s former glory…

  9. i have the emerald night with no power functions, when there are no power
functions, does it have some problems with free wheel?

  10. Great Video Jangbricks, I also agree this Locomotive needed more of a
consist to go with it, I always thought Lego should have made an extension
pack with 2 more cars and a brake coach

  11. I always found it interesting that this set, and the new-built LNER
Peppercorn A1 “Tornado”, came out around the same time. Because this
locomotive seems to very much resemble that real-life counterpart.

  12. Love this train wish I’d got back into Lego sooner. I hope we see another
British based train design, the colour is great and I love that Pullman
    coach.

  13. Get the light going and buy a few more carts jang and keep it build
    together for the layout! :D

  14. I have this set but my female figure doesn’t have a double sided face,
    anyone know why that is?

  15. I do love this set. The only issue I had with it was that when I used the
power functions, I had to add a second technic piece to the front for the
throw arm to glide slide through, as I occasionally had problems with it
    jamming up.

I have 5 cars with mine — 4 standard cars but with modified interiors for
1st, 2nd, and 3rd class, plus one sleeper car of my own design and matching
    the colour of the locomotive.

  16. I want this so bad but I can’t find a good deal. Can anyone point me in the
    right direction?

  17. I don’t have that much trains at home, but when I got the chance to buy
this amazing model I didn’t hesitate on expending the money. I do love this
classic engine and did enjoy the building process.

  18. Its awesome. I think it needs the extra carriages to give it the best look.
My friend has two of these sets sealed, I need to be nicer to him I think!
